Exclude Muslims From BC List for Centre’s Nod: Bandi
Karimnagar: Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday warned that the Centre would not approve the contentious Bill unless Muslims are removed from the Backward Classes (BC) list. Speaking at a meeting with party mandal presidents in Karimnagar, alongside BJP Graduates and Teachers MLC candidates Ch. Anji Reddy and M. Komuraiah, he questioned, “Are we supposed to accept the Bill without question if it includes Muslims in the BC list?”
Bandi strongly criticised the Congress’ support for including Muslims in the BC category and asserted that his party would work to convince the Centre to approve the Bill only if Muslims are excluded. He further highlighted a growing controversy over caste certificates and reservations, alleging that Muslims are being unjustly included in the BC category while some Christians are securing Scheduled Caste (SC) certificates, a practice that undermines the interests of genuine SC communities. The minister also expressed frustration over the silence of BC and SC organisations in addressing these issues.
In a another critical view, Bandi referred to recent remarks by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of civil servants. “When asked to make one mistake, they end up making three,” the minister questioned, challenging the logic of expecting errors from civil servants when the CM himself holds the reins of power. He added that the current state of uncertainty and internal divisions among ministers and MLAs, including allegations of ministers demanding commissions on government-related projects, signals a fractured leadership.
The minister did not spare the Congress government either, branding it a “debt-ridden administration” that has yet to deliver on promises such as an unemployment dole of Rs56,000 for youth and pending payments of Dearness Allowance and Pay Revision Commission dues for teachers and government employees.
Contrasting this with the achievements of the Modi government, Bandi noted that the BJP has kept its promises by recruiting nearly 9.25 lakh Central government employees — close to the targeted 10 lakh jobs — without corruption, while also offering tax exemptions of up to Rs 12.75 lakh to employees.
With the Congress struggling to find viable candidates and BRS out of the race, Bandi predicted a sweeping victory for the BJP in all three MLC seats. He stated that the BJP is set to emerge as the main Opposition in the state until it returns to power.
